Bio

Stacy Kohl holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree with a minor in Flute Performance, and a Master of Music degree, both from Central Michigan University.  She taught music from Young 5's to 12 Graders, including band/orchestra grades 5-12, concert band, marching band, orchestra, jazz band, and high school musicals.  She has also taught elementary general music.  After 31 years of service, Stacy retired from Clarkston in 2020.

After starting on the piano at about age seven, Stacy began playing the flute when she was 10 years old.  Her three older brothers played brass and percussion instruments and Stacy would go to their concerts and was convinced very quickly that she wanted to play flute.  Stacy has studied flute with Joanna Cowan White of CMU and Clement Barone of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Kathy Course, and Diane Jezierski.  In college, Stacy performed with the concert bands, orchestra (piccolo), flute choir, marching band (piccolo), and recitals.

In the years following college, she performed with the Midland Concert Band, the Farmington Community Band, the Clarkston Community Band, and she was principal flute in the Warren Concert Band.   She is currently co-principal flute in the Orchard Lake Philharmonic.  Stacy is also a member of the Southeastern Michigan Wind Ensemble, performing alongside current and retired music educators, and semi-professional musicians.

Currently working in Health Care, Stacy enjoys exploring new endeavors.  She is excited to resume teaching flute lessons.  Her daughter Gwendolyn is now attending MSU where she is part of the Spartan Marching Band (Big Ten Flags), MSU Concert Orchestra (violin), and has participated in MSU Campus Band (French Horn).  Stacy enjoys going to those events!
